Where to Start With Music of Africa

A few song recommendations for those who are new to the site. Or for those who would like to check out our top 10 favorites.

Music of Africa has been around for over a year now and our archive is getting very large. Perhaps so large that many readers won't want to go digging around to find all the great stuff that lurks there.

You could check out our playlists - there are six of them now - not including this latest one. They also contain a lot of great stuff. Which brings up the same problem. Lots of stuff to sift through. Where to start?

Try our latest playlist, which boils it all down to my top ten (approximately) favorite songs from Music of Africa. This was not an easy task, mind you. We've featured a lot of great music over the last year. But I put my shoulder to the wheel and my nose to the grindstone and got it done.

Obviously this is a very subjective list, especially since Music of Africa mostly focuses on a few countries from a small section of southern Africa. But if you're looking for something like a beginners guide to relatively "accessible" music from a few countries in southern Africa it's not bad.
