The Gospel According to Zimbabwe
A song each from two Zimbabwean gospel groups. Give them a listen, even if you think you don't like gospel.
Vabati VaJehova is a Zimbabwean gospel group that performs primarily vocal music - very catchy vocal music. With a bit of percussion thrown in for flavor. They've been around since 1999 and are still at it, in spite of the fact that they have lost three of their founding members. They're joined on this song by the popular Zimbabwean musician, Jah Prayzah.
Vanofamba Najesu seems to be the name of the group and "Tererai Mwari Anotaura Chokwadi" seems to be the name of the song. But I won't swear to it. I haven't been able to figure it out, for sure, in spite of all my efforts. If you can clarify, leave a comment. In any event, it's a quite striking and a little bit haunting piece of gospel music that apparently originates from Zimbabwe.
