The Boy Bands of Malawi

The Galong'ombe Boys and the Malawi Mouse Boys.

No, it’s not that type of boy band. You know the ones. It's a pair of groups from Malawi that use the word "Boys" in their name.

First up, it's the Malawi Mouse Boys. Who were discovered about a decade ago and who take their name from their vocation at the time - selling barbecued mice on a stick. More about them here.

I first ran across the Galong'ombe Boys not long ago and they've become a favorite. I just wish I could find more of their music.

They're a trio who play very upbeat music on what look like homemade stringed instruments. Any more details are hard to come by, so the music will have to speak for itself.
