Pick of the Week - Oliver Mtukudzi (Zimbabwe)
Yet another fine song from Mtukudzi, from the last album of his to be released.
It is a relatively rare talent to be able to write music that makes people feel good. Oliver Mtukudzi seemed to have that talent in abundance.
By some accounts, he released 65 albums. Whether that's an accurate figure or not, the fact is that he turned out a lot of music in his sixty-plus years of existence.
Tuku's music would be my choice for a desert island stay, although I don't anticipate that happening. I've listened to a great deal of his music, but I may never get to it all. But it's not for lack of trying.
Today's Pick of the Week, "Mahara," comes from Hany'Ga (Concern). It was the last album released in his lifetime, in 2018. He passed the following year.
