Pick of the Week - Mahempe (Botswana)

Another bunch of "fake old man" musical comedians from Botswana.

It seems to be a thing in Botswana. Young musicians dress up as old men and liven up their performances and videos with varying degrees of silliness. There's Triple-R - I mentioned them here. And there's Mahempe, whose song "Itshireletseng" is our latest Pick of the Week.

We'll have more from Mahempe in the near future. In this video they seem to have toned down the foolishness a bit, perhaps because it's a public service announcement from the covid-19 years. It's a sparse song - just an acoustic guitar and vocals - but it's a great one. I've lost track of how many times I've listened to it already. Give it a try.
