From Zimbabwe, a pair of songs from members of the Mtukudzi family.
One of the great elder statesmen of Zimbabwean music, Oliver Mtukudzi passed on in 2019 after a long and very distinguished career. He was influential enough that he lent his nickname (Tuku) to a style of music. You don't have to look far to find a great song by Tuku. “Dzoka Uyamwe” is just another one of many.
The second song is from Selmor Mtukudzi and it seems that the apple didn't fall far from the tree, as the saying goes. It's a song from Tuku's daughter, who has become a considerable star in her own right. The title, "Baba Vemwana," translates (says Google Translate) to "Father Of The Child." I couldn't find lyrics, so make of that what you will. You can find the song on her 2023 album, Ndangwara.
