Mahempe's Musical Comedy Revisited

More from the "fake old man musical comedians" of Botswana.

A while back I mentioned that "We'll have more from Mahempe in the near future." It seems like only yesterday - because it was. But why wait? Here we go.

Mahempe, the group, is like Triple-R, the group, in that they are from Botswana. Like Triple-R, their hook is to do music and dance while dressed up as old men and add a comic touch to their music videos and live performances. I don't know enough about Botsawana to know if this is a common thing. If anyone does, feel free to leave a comment.

"Itshireletseng," yesterday's Pick of the Week, was a covid-19 PSA that toned down the group's antics a bit. "MmaDigalase," is another immensely catchy song and the video (the first one below) finds the "old men" breaking out some pretty intense dance moves - for old men.

There's more dancing in the second song and the silliness quotient is ramped up a bit. Even more silliness ensues in the third video, with the group in performance outside a shopping center. Some onlookers get it, some don't seem to know what's going on, and some really don't want to be bothered.
