Happy 2024 From Music of Africa

Music of Africa welcomes you to 2024 with music...of course.

The "Happy New Year" video posted below is an instrumental and doesn't actually have anything to do with New Year's Day. But it was posted on New Year's Eve, 2009, and has racked up more than four million views since then. And it's always good for a listen.

If I've got my story straight, the "star" of this video and a few others, was the late Ronnie Moipolai, and he was not a professional musician. But, as you can see, he knew his way around the "four-string guitar" that seems to be mostly unique to Botswana. I wrote about it here.

I've already posted "Happy Xmas - Happy New Year," by Mabel Mafuya, a South African actress/musician. But since it works for two holidays, here it is again.
